OVERVIEW

GREAT SOUNDING VINTAGE STYLE MIC FOR HOME STUDIO.

Our collaboration with Thronmax extended when they wanted to add a vintage model to their MDrill microphone family. With a focus on cost-effectiveness and new product introduction, our design strategy for MDrill Dome saved them a significant investment budget while offering a fresh and unique look.

Although lacking the Vertigain technology of other MDrill models, MDrill Dome’s vintage style is a perfect fit for those seeking an aesthetically pleasing home studio microphone.

MDrill Dome was our final project with Thronmax, leaving behind a satisfied customer and a successful partnership with three projects completed..

When we were approached with the project, our main goal was to keep the investment costs low. Our designers worked closely with the engineers to ensure that any design changes wouldn’t result in uncontrollable budgets. We took inspiration from the construction of the MDrill Zero and made necessary changes to the top grille, resulting in the stylish and vintage MDrill Dome.

The MDrill Dome features a dome-shaped top cage made of high-quality zinc-alloy with a polished finish, giving it a classic and unique look. The traditional microphone mesh is located underneath the cage, providing excellent audio quality.

The user interface of MDrill Dome is similar to MDrill Zero’s successful use scenario.

• The knob in the middle activates the mute function, and the LED turns red.

• Rotating the knob counterclockwise activates the cardioid mode, increasing the gain level towards the end, with the LED color turning blue.

• Rotating the knob clockwise activates the omni-directional mode, increasing the gain towards the end, with the LED color turning green.
