Designed for coffee perfectionists and professionals alike, the Dippers single dose coffee grinder blends precision engineering with a sleek, minimal aesthetic. This grinder ensures consistent grind sizes while minimizing retention, making it ideal for espresso lovers who prioritize flavor and control. Built with a durable metal body and a unique vertical form, it redefines workflow in the coffee ritual..

The demand for single-dose grinding has grown with the third-wave coffee movement, emphasizing freshness and consistency. Dippers coffee grinder was developed in response to this trend, aiming to provide high-end performance in a compact, user-friendly design. The project brief required us to rethink usability, visual harmony, and mechanical robustness from the ground up.

KEY FEATURES

•  Stepless Grind Adjustment Ring Clearly numbered dial and tactile knurled collar give users total control over grind consistency, from fine espresso to coarse pour-over.

•  Single-Dose Hopper Compact bean chamber eliminates stale grounds and ensures freshness with every cup.

•  Minimal Retention Pathway Engineered internals reduce grind retention, reducing waste and ensuring flavor clarity.

•  Detachable Portafilter Fork Hands-free grinding is made possible with a metal fork that supports most commercial and home portafilters.

•  Refined Materials & Finish A matte black aluminum housing with anodized silver accents evokes professionalism and durability.

DESIGN PROCESS

PURPOSE-BUILT FOR COFFEE ENTHUSIASTS.

Dippers single dose coffee grinder successfully merges design sensitivity with engineering precision. It’s currently in the final prototyping phase, with positive early feedback from coffee professionals for its intuitive grind control and premium form factor. The visual language is simple and modern. The contrast between matte black and raw aluminum accents conveys a precise and technical quality. The slightly inclined cylinder enhances ergonomic access while projecting a bold stance on the counter.

We began with user studies focusing on daily usage, cleaning routines, and grind adjustment preferences. After analyzing key competitors and barista workflows, our team developed several cylindrical form factors—ultimately selecting the tilted monobody design for its ergonomic and visual advantages.

Through iteration and 3D prototyping, we refined the following:

• A stepless adjustment collar for micro-tuning grind size

• A robust dosing spout geometry to minimize static and mess

• An integrated portafilter holder with visual lightness and mechanical integrity
